10 Years of Grimsby Garden Centre with Navigo

It's been 10 years since Navigo took over Grimsby Garden Centre - celebrate with us!

This year marks a special milestone — 10 years since Navigo took ownership of Grimsby Garden Centre, making it into a community hub where flowers bloom, mental health is boosted, and buying plants means you’re giving back!

To mark the occasion, we’re throwing a free potting party on Saturday 1 November, and you’re on the guest list! Whether you’re a green-fingered pro or a total newbie who’s never met a trowel, come along for a hands-on, feel-good day that’s open to absolutely everyone.

What’s happening on the day?

  • Free drop-in potting session with flower and vegetable seeds
  • Lucky dip and colouring competition
  • 10% off all Christmas stock for attendees
  • A chance to celebrate 10 years of community and growth
  • Great for beginners and families — a lovely way to get children excited about growing their own plants
Come for the plants, stay for the people, and help us mark a decade of making Grimsby Garden Centre a place where people and plants grow.

Why it matters

We’re more just a garden centre — we’re a not-for-profit run by Navigo, North East Lincolnshire’s leading provider of mental health services. That means income from when you shop with us is reinvested to improve the centre and support local mental health services.

Over the past decade, the garden centre has grown into a place that offers:
  • Training and volunteering opportunities in horticulture, retail, kitchen and customer service
  • Therapeutic horticulture sessions at the on-site allotment and our potting stations, supporting people with mental health challenges
  • Community events and seasonal activities that bring people together and promote wellbeing
In the past 12 months alone, 51 people took part in therapeutic horticulture, gaining confidence, routine and connection through hands-on gardening. We’ve seen people coming back week after week, spending more time at the allotment and getting stuck in, a lovely sign that the programme’s really making a difference and means a lot to those involved.

Real impact, real people

Staff and volunteers often say the allotment is one of those special places where little wins like planting a seed, tidying a bed, and showing up each week and being part of a team can quietly build into something much bigger. As Linda put it:

“It’s not just the gardening that’s helped, but the sense of community here. Being part of the team has really boosted my confidence, and I feel like I’m getting back to my old self. I’m so grateful for this place and the people who’ve supported me along the way.”
