We've been named one of the nation’s best!
Grimsby Garden Centre has been chosen as one of the nation’s 100 best independent businesses by Small Business Saturday UK.
We’re excited to share that we beat thousands of national competitors to be included in this year’s SmallBiz100 which showcases impressive businesses from right across the UK.
Our popular garden centre is owned and run by mental health services provider NAViGO.
Turning profit for good, proceeds go back into the centre’s upkeep and supporting mental health services across North East Lincolnshire.
Plus, the garden centre complex also offers training and employment opportunities to people from disadvantaged backgrounds and individuals with mental health difficulties.
Delighted to be included in the exclusive list, Grimsby Garden Centre manager Craig Champion said: “We’re so pleased to be one of only 100 to have made it onto the list out of so many brilliant small businesses in the UK.
“We’ve put a lot of hard work into developing and growing the garden centre in recent years. Alongside selling plants, gifts and homeware, we continue to provide horticultural therapy and develop employment opportunities, have doubled the size of our popular eatery – rebranding it as the Potting Shed – and have started our Grow with Us initiative, encouraging and equipping all primary schools in North East Lincolnshire to get out gardening.
“To be recognised for our achievements and celebrated at a national scale is brilliant and encourages us to push ourselves even further.”
Now in its tenth year, Small Business Saturday is an annual campaign spreading the message of, ‘Small Business, Big Difference’ celebrating the nation’s small firms and encouraging customers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
The day itself takes place on the first Saturday in December each year – 3 December 2022 – with customers encouraged to support all types of small businesses online, in offices, in restaurants and in stores.
The Small Business Saturday tour will also be visiting Grimsby on Thursday 10 November 2022 as part of the countdown to this year’s event.
The tour will be situated at St James’ Square in the morning from 10am to 12.15pm and at St Peter’s Avenue in Cleethorpes from around 12.45pm to 2pm.
