Meet the team
I’ve been a member of the Grimsby Garden Centre team for just over a year now. Everyone I work with is so lovely, it’s like being part of a family.
Out of work, I am passionate about my hobbies. I love to crochet, and I love to take part in Fools & Heroes Live-Action Roleplay, which is a bit like historical re-enactment meets Lord of the Rings. Some of my favourite flowers are forget-me-nots, dicentras and agapanthus, especially, and jasmines. I have a lot of jasmine in my garden, which I love the scent of and the delicate flowers.
I’ve been at the garden centre for 18 and a half years. One of my favourite things about working here is that everyday is different and I love the people that I work with.
Many people find my choice of pet weird; I have a pet tarantula called Matilda, some chickens, and a noisy cockatiel called Stella. I love to read a lot and I enjoy walking and cooking (not at the same time!). If I had to choose a favourite plant, it would be all herbs (if I can choose that!). They have so many uses and benefits and they make your garden smell lovely.
Anne – Potting Shed
I’ve been working at The Potting Shed) for almost two and a half years. I really enjoy the fast-paced nature of my job at The Potting Shed, particularly when it’s busy. We have lots of regular customers and it’s lovely to see the same familiar friendly faces. The rest of the team are amazing and a pleasure to work with, we’re all really supportive of each other.
Outside of work, I love to go walking in the Lincolnshire Wolds, relaxing in my beautiful garden and I have a passion for crocheting large granny square blankets with pom poms!
Elaine – Potting Shed
I’ve been at the garden centre for over 16 years – starting in the early days and watching it grow into The Potting Shed has made me really proud. We genuinely have a great time at work and regular customers are more like old friends.
In my spare time, I love reading and walking. Me and my husband have a campervan which we have lots of adventures in.
Mairita – Potting Shed
I’ve been at The Potting Shed for just over four months but already I really get on with the people that I work with and I love seeing the familiar faces coming back regularly – it’s really nice getting to know new and returning customers.
Outside of work, I love long walks and picnics in the countryside with my children, exploring new places and spending time with my family.
Niki – Potting Shed Chef
I’ve been a chef at the garden centre for nearly six years now. I love that it’s fast-paced – a day’s work is almost like a workout and I really like the people that I work with.
In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and like a wind-down with a drink (vodka’s my tipple of choice) after a hard week at work.
