Hay raising festival fun
We’re inviting primary schools across North East Lincolnshire to get their creative juices flowing for a new scarecrow festival here at Grimsby Garden Centre.
It’s all part of our Grow with Us project – the successful initiative in which we’ve provided all primary schools across the county with green-fingered activity packs to encourage the next generation of gardeners.
Each primary school that chooses to take part will be supplied with the essentials to get them started but it’s up to you how your finished scarecrow will look.
Grimsby Garden Centre manager Craig Champion said: “We’re inviting every school in North East Lincs to create their very own scarecrows to be displayed at our garden centre.
“The scarecrows can come in all shapes, sizes, themes and characters from superheroes such as Captain Ameri-crow to celebrities like Beyonc-hay, book characters, TV faves, inspiring heroes or favourite teachers!
“We’re encouraging people to reuse and repurpose what they have to come up with some properly hay-raising creations.
“I guess this summer we’re going from Grow with Us to ‘crow with us.”
The ‘crows will be displayed at Grimsby Garden Centre in the summer, with schools and centre visitors able to vote for their favourites before prizes are awarded to the scarecrows (and schools) most outstanding in their field.
All participating schools will be invited to a fun-packed prize giving ceremony in the Potting Shed – the garden centre’s popular eatery.
Here at Grimsby Garden Centre, we know more than most the positive benefits of gardening on both mental and physical health.
Primary schools in North East Lincolnshire, keep an eye on your inboxes as invites to participate and more information will be coming your way very soon!
