Kitchen porter opportunity 

25 hours per week

The role requires availability throughout the week and weekend.

Experience of working in a fast paced environment, dealing with a varied freshly cooked menu is essential to the role.

Job summary

The post holder will undertake a wide range of duties in relation to working in a busy café environment at Grimsby Garden Centre, owned and operated by Navigo.

It is essential you conduct yourself in a friendly, efficient and approachable manner.

The post holder will be working as part of a dedicated team in a busy kitchen environment.

You will assist the kitchen staff in undertaking the development and support of our service users, promoting the provision of a reliable, high-quality, flexible, proactive training provider for our members.

The post holder will work alongside people with mental health problems and help them gain skills, knowledge and experience that will enhance their ability to find employment.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Ensuring food preparation areas are clean and hygienic
• Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately
• Providing a high standard of customer service at all times
• Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and hygiene
• Ensuring completion of documentation
• Receiving and checking off deliveries from suppliers
• Rotating and displaying of stock
• Supporting trainees and those undertaking work placement opportunities
• Ensuring that appropriate uniforms and protective clothing are worn, to maintain food safety and hygiene conditions
• Ensuring that all equipment and materials in the kitchens are being used in a safe manner in accordance with organisational procedures and manufacturer’s instructions, reporting any defective items.

All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.
